Black Onyx & Hematite Necklaces

Black colour stones are usually considered very protective and grounding.

Hematite meaning

The name hematite derives it meaning from the greek word for blood. The reason for the origin of hematite's name can be twofold. Even though it is shiny black on the outside, if you break the stone (not an easy thing to do!) you will see that on the inside hematite has a deep blood red colour. Another reason for its name might be related to the high iron content found in hematite (almost 70%), which made hematite a popular healing stone for blood-related disorders.

What is special about the hematite stone?

Hematite clearly has a very strong grounding energy; you can feel that just by holding the stone in your hand. It also has a cooling and calming effect, as well as helps develop concentration and focus. Overall, hematite brings a quality of energy that is powerful, strong and grounding. It works with one's mind by calming it and clearing the unnecessary clutter.

Onyx meaning

Onyx comes through Latin (of the same spelling), from the Greek ὄνυξ, meaning "claw" or "fingernail". With its fleshtone color, onyx can be said to resemble a fingernail. The English word "nail" is cognate with the Greek word.

What is special about the onyx?

Onyx jewellery is worn to defend against negativity that is directed at you. Black stones have protective energies in the sense that black is the absence of light, and therefore, can be used to create invisibility.

My day trip to Brighton

Brighton is located on the south coast of Great Britain and became a destination for day-trippers from London after the arrival of the railway in 1841.

Brighton's beach, is a shingle beach at high tide with a flat sandy foreshore at low water, and has been awarded a blue flag.

Each May the city hosts the Brighton Festival. the second largest arts festival in the UK(after Edinburgh). This includes processions such as the Children's Parade, outdoor spectaculars often involving pyrotechnics, and theatre, music and visual arts in venues throughout the city, some brought into this use exclusively for the festival.
